St Valentineʼs Day has its roots in several
different legends that have found their way to us through the ages.
One of the most popular informs us that Valentine, a Christian priest,
had been sentenced to death for his teachings. The Romans insisted that people
should believe in Roman gods only.
While languishing in prison, he fell in love with the warden’s
daughter.
The night before he was executed, he wrote her a farewell letter,
signing it ‟From Your Valentine.ˮ
St Valentineʼs Day is now a day to show a friend
or loved one that you care by sending them a Valentine’s Card. This card is
named after the letter that St. Valentine sent to his sweetheart from jail.
