We play a part in helping local Rotary Club to trace last surviving Charter Member

On 1 July 2014, we posted a story about Brian Stone who played a prominent role in an earlier era of our town and in particular of the Settlers area where he grew up. Click HERE to read the story.

Brian is a resident of our retirement village.

A copy of the posting was sent to Andries van der Heyde, a reporter for our local newspaper, who subsequently interviewed Brian and published a story about his life and times.

The President of the Warmbaths Rotary Club, Drummond Hammond, read the story and contacted Brian at his home. Drummond had been searching all over for him because he knew that Brian is the last surviving Charter Member of the Club. He was inducted on 10 May 1962.

Brian and Wendy were invited to a meeting which was attended by the Rotary District Governor, Annie Steijn. Here Brian was accorded honorary membership of the Rotary Club of Warmbaths.

Brian is justly proud of the recognition he received from Rotary.
